About Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists (OTs) at Watch Me Shine understand that some children face challenges with tasks, sensory processing, or motor skills. That’s why our OTs create engaging, play-based activities in our well-equipped sensory gym. Through this playful approach, your child will discover pathways to independence in daily activities. This can be especially helpful for children who may struggle with planning, sequencing steps, or completing tasks due to motor or sensory challenges. Our OTs can break down these tasks into smaller steps and use fun activities to practice them, fostering confidence and self-sufficiency, empowering them to take charge of their daily routines. The sensory gym also helps address sensitivities or difficulties with processing sensory information. By working through these challenges in a supportive environment, your child will feel comfortable and engaged in their world. This can involve activities that promote calmness, reduce anxiety, or improve sensory integration.

Our OTs also help improve dexterity for essential activities like handwriting, cutting with scissors, and manipulating objects. This “fine motor mastery” sets them up for academic success and a world of creative possibilities. They can use specialized tools or techniques to improve finger isolation, grasp strength, and in-hand manipulation.

Lastly, our OTs work to enhance coordination, balance, and strength needed for activities like crawling, walking, jumping, and catching. This gross motor growth builds a strong foundation for physical development and joyful play. This may involve activities that help with spatial awareness, body coordination, and bilateral integration
